With infra-red, you have to stay within certain left-right and top-bottom angles to the base station. The effective transmission area is a pie sector with the base in the center. But, with radio frequency, the effective transmission area is a circle. Transmission range is 30m radius, compared to DIR2000C's 10m by infra-red. Radio transmission can wrap around most obstacles, even doors and walls. But, reinforced concrete walls, and metal doors can reduce signal strength. 3x3 Transmission System A robust system to provide smooth data transmission. To avoid and minimise interference with other radio networks in your home, the base station constantly scans thru 3 channels for a clearer transmission channel.
