1. Newly developed Sound Driver The first SR-Λ (lambda) series was introduced 30 years ago, and now (Sep 2010) the SR-507 has accomplished further evolution with its new sounding body (sound element). The conventional sound element has employed simplest structure so that the widest possible film diaphragm area can be effectively used in comparison with its external size. Taking advantage of the conventional feature, the new sound element has been packaged in a tough resin case. Thus the new sound element has cleaner sound and more accurate sound image. Also, the new thin-film material are almost free from stretch from temperature or humidity, enabling both the rich, deep low-frequency and delicate high-frequency sound. 2. New Headpad slider The new headband uses STAX first 10-click slider mechanism for head-pad height adjustment. Once adjusted, the slider quite firmly stays in its optimal position, no need for constant readjustment. 3. New Dual Arc Assembly The dual arc assembly provides optimal lateral tension to position the headphones in place and comfortably for any extended use. 4. Low capacitance 6N silver-plated hybrid cable Even when the same speaker unit is being used, the final sound quality is likely to differ considerably depending on the capacity and dimensional ratio of the enclosure, the structure, the materials, the design and parts of the network, and even the cables used for internal wiring. This means that, when evaluating the cables used in an audio system, it is necessary to pay particular attention to a whole range of conditions such as the current transmission and the voltage transmission. In the case of headphones, it’s also important to take account especially of flexibility and of internal breakage which is caused by the extremely high flexing frequency during use. Like the SR-404 LIMITED, the new SR-507 is equipped with an exclusive, newly developed cable. The middle of each cable core are 3 strands of the highly reputed 6N Cu high-purity soft copper with a diameter of 0.14mm. Wrapping around it are 6 silver-plated soft copper wires where each wire is made of 9 strands of 0.08mm diameter. In order to reduce the volume between the wires, the overall structure is of the parallel type as in the case of previous models. This has made it possible to enhance yet further the freshness of the sound and to add a sense of natural and immediate luster to the sound of the existing Lambda series. 5. Real lamb leather earpads The real leather earpads have received great response in their use on Stax’s high-end ear speakers. The main purpose of using real leather is for its natural property of air-permeability, and improve the speakers fitting on the head through the earpads greater flexibility. These improvements also contributed significantly to the freshness and the refinement of tone quality.
